"Here's your week ahead, Monday the 26th through Sunday the 1st, and Halloween lands on Saturday the 31st," Jon said. He and Rachel traded off the events from there, and Jon let Rachel go first.

Monday and Tuesday

Monday the 26th is a free First-Time Homebuyer Workshop at the Hardin County Chamber on West Dixie in Elizabethtown, from 6 to 8:30 PM. Rachel said it is an excellent chance to get into the nuts and bolts of what you can be doing now to reach the goal of owning a home. A reservation is recommended so the organizers know how many people to expect, but she said to go show up and be in the room. "You're going to learn a lot."

Tuesday the 27th, the ECTC Spooktacular opens the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College campus for trick-or-treating from 3 to 6 PM, and it is all free. The hosts described walking through the campus, different buildings and departments, and voting on a favorite. It is mostly indoors, with a short walk between buildings.

Thursday and Friday

Thursday the 29th brings the Vine Grove Trunk or Treat at Vine Grove City Hall, 5 to 8 PM. It is indoors, so it is on rain or shine.

Friday the 30th, Diamond Rio plays the State Theater in downtown Elizabethtown at 7 PM. The hosts talked about the 90s country favorites, and one host said he had seen them at the State before and that they love to hang out with the crowd.

For the grown-ups, Rachel pointed to Heartland Mini Golf's Halloween After Dark party in Elizabethtown, listed for 9 PM to 1 AM. It is 21 and older, ID is required at the door, and there is a $10 cover charge. Rachel said she attends almost every year.

For real scares on Friday the 30th and Saturday the 31st, there is Sinister Tombs in Eastview, with the box office open from 7:30 to 11:45 PM both nights.

Saturday, Halloween

Saturday the 31st starts early with the Hardin County Farmers Market season finale on Peterson Drive in Elizabethtown, from 8 AM to noon. Rachel said to bring the kids and enjoy the local farmers who bring their items out to sell.

That night, from 7 to 10 PM, the Masonic Haunted House at Morrison Lodge on North Mulberry in Elizabethtown is $5.

All week

The Last House on Springhurst, a free backyard haunted trail in Elizabethtown, runs from 8 to 10 PM every night through Sunday, November 1. The Thomas Dairy Farm Fall Fest in Cecilia runs through Tuesday, November 3, with corn mazes, hayrides and a pumpkin patch.

There is a trunk-or-treat almost every single night this week, in Radcliff, Cecilia, Vine Grove and Elizabethtown. Check your city's page for official trick-or-treat hours, since cities set those times for when kids can be out on the streets. Every event, plus many more, is on the Hardin Local this-week page, and the hosts said they had not come close to covering the whole list.

One last reminder: the clocks fall back an hour early Sunday morning, November 1.
