Jon O'Brien covered the full week of Hardin County events on the St. Patrick's Day edition of Hardin Local Weekly — then signed off to go work the bar at Bourbon Barrel Tavern. This week is genuinely stacked, anchored by the Kentucky Kids Consignment Spring Sale at Bluegrass Sportsplex with over 5,300 Facebook RSVPs, and a Saturday so loaded it practically requires a scheduling spreadsheet.

Whether you want live music, antique appraisals, a community market, local vendors, wood-fired pizza, or just an excuse to get out of the house, Hardin County has it covered March 17 through 22.

Jon O'Brien doesn't waste words. He showed up to S2026E12 wearing a headband that said everything you needed to know about his St. Patrick's Day plans — he was bartending at Bourbon Barrel Tavern that night and wanted the regulars to remember one thing: "It's a marathon, not a sprint. Slow down a little bit." Then he ran through the full week of events with his usual efficiency and headed out to go make it happen.

Here is what is still on the calendar in Hardin County this week.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY — TUESDAY, MARCH 17 (PASSED)

Grafenburg played live at Bourbon Barrel Tavern for St. Patrick's Day, Jon bartended for the county, and by all accounts it was a great night. If you missed it, pencil in next March 17.

TODAY — WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18

The Hardin County Public Library hosts their Community Art Show from 3:30 to 5:30 PM at 100 Jim Owen Dr, Elizabethtown. It is a gallery-style event with local artwork on display, refreshments, and live music. Free to attend and a quiet mid-week outing if you want something a little different.

THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY, MARCH 19–21

This is the big one. The Kentucky Kids Consignment Spring 2026 Sale runs at Bluegrass Sportsplex (208 Peterson Dr, Elizabethtown) over three days.

  • Thursday: 9 AM to 8 PM.
  • Friday: 9 AM to 1 PM.
  • Saturday: 9 AM to 4 PM — that is the day many items go half price, with savings running up to 90 percent off retail. Gently used clothing, toys, baby gear, and furniture from local families. Free admission. Free parking.

Over 5,300 people had already RSVP'd on Facebook before the episode even aired. That is not a typo. Jon called it massive, and he was right. If you have kids, budget time for this event — and get there early on Saturday before the half-price items disappear.

A few logistics to know: no bags larger than 8.5 by 11 inches are allowed on the floor. They accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. No checks.

FRIDAY, MARCH 20

Casey & Romy play live at Cosmic Golf (Elizabethtown) at 8 PM. Mini golf downstairs, batting bays, food and drinks, and live entertainment. A casual Friday night option if you want music without the crowds.

SATURDAY, MARCH 21

Saturday deserves its own breakdown because there are five things happening, and they are all worth knowing about.

The Antique "House" Show runs at Brown-Pusey House (128 N Main St, Elizabethtown) starting at 10 AM. Jon described it perfectly: "kind of like Antiques Roadshow, but at Brown-Pusey House." If you have heirlooms sitting in a closet or attic, this is your chance to find out what they are worth. Pricing is $30 for the first item, $50 for two, and $20 for each additional item after that.

Bloom & Balance: The Equinox Market opens at 10 AM at Pritchard Community Center (404 S Mulberry St, Elizabethtown) and continues through Sunday. Vendors, crafts, tarot and card readers, crystals, art, and live entertainment. An equinox market in the truest sense.

The Spring Bazaar runs 9 AM to 3 PM at the Hardin County Extension Office (111 Opportunity Way, Elizabethtown). Local vendors, handcrafted items, homemade baked goods, and lunch available on site. Good for a Saturday morning browse.

That evening, the Ron Jones Jazz Duo plays The Straight and Narrow (125 E Dixie Ave, Elizabethtown) from 6:30 to 9:30 PM. This is a 21-and-up cocktail bar in the old Commons Cafe area downtown — a small, intimate space. Jon was direct about reservations: make them. The jazz duo will likely take the main front table, so seating is limited. Call ahead or you may not get in.

Also that evening, 2 Outta 3 plays live at Lincoln Trail Country Club (Tiffany's Cafe, Vine Grove) from 6 to 9 PM. It is a four-course buffet for $17 plus tax with non-alcoholic beverages included. A full dinner-and-music evening in Vine Grove.

SUNDAY, MARCH 22

The Social Academy Pizza Making Class is at 4 PM at Social Food Hall, presented by Maillard Wood Fired Kitchen. You make two wood-fired pizzas during the class and leave with dough to take home. Jon noted this is good for a date night or with kids — Rachel mentioned she is planning to take her boys. Spots are limited, so check availability.

Central Hardin High School hosts their Band Mattress Fundraiser from 10 AM to 4 PM at the school. Open to the public. If you need a mattress and want to support the band program at the same time, this is where to go.

Jon gave every event the time it deserved, then handed it back to the crew and headed out the door. Hardin County does not have a slow week very often — this one is proof.
