The dates run Tuesday, January 13 through Sunday, January 18, and there is something on the slate nearly every night.

Trivia is the through-line early in the week — "trivia abound," as Jon put it — with games at Flywheel Brewing and HubHaus on Tuesday and a Thursday round at Cosmic Golf. Bourbon Barrel Tavern, where Jon works, leans into a serious whiskey night Tuesday and karaoke Thursday. Saturday turns toward the community side of things, from Loaves of Love and a Clean Good Eats detox class to the Sonora Fire Department Chili Supper & Auction. After a lighter first week of the year, Jon O'Brien came back with a packed events rundown for January 13–18. "We've got again trivia abound," he opened, and the week only built from there.

Tuesday: trivia, twofers, and a serious whiskey night

Tuesday starts with brains. General Knowledge Trivia runs at Flywheel Brewing — an all-ages spot with a food truck on site — while Joe's Game Night fills HubHaus. "If you like to use that noodle, go to those places and do it," Jon said. "It's an all-ages spot, so again you don't have to be over 21 to go to those locations."

Over at Revival Vintage Spirits it's Twofer Tuesdays — "you get a beer and a nice pour of whiskey for a certain price. That's always a good deal." And at Bourbon Barrel Tavern, the whiskey list goes deep: a collection of Eagle Rare and Sazerac on special, with the 18-year and 17-year "discounted drastically," plus the Foolproof and the 10- and 12-year Eagle Rare.

StrEAT Kitchen rolls out January burger specials, and Jon teased something he's personally excited about. "They're working on a fish sandwich, which I'm super excited for. I know that Lent is on its way, so that's gonna be something that they will have — a fish sandwich option for those that don't want to have the meat."

The night also includes a "Follow the Balloon" community listening session for Norton Children's at G.C. Burkhead Elementary, 1323 St John Rd. Doors open at 5:30 PM with the program running 6 to 7:30 PM.

Wednesday: bingo, a board meeting, and Insights & Impacts

Wednesday brings Boombox Bingo to Social Food Hall, the Blue Door Workshop at Flywheel Brewing, and a North Hardin Baseball & Softball board meeting at 7 PM at the Colvin Community Center in Radcliff. Up at Fort Knox, Open Mic Night runs at the Samuel Adams Brewhouse at 8 PM — "if you like to sing or do anything you want to do, head up there and do that." A free improv workshop, 6:30 to 8 PM, rounds out the night for anyone curious about acting on their feet.

Wednesday is also the night for Insights & Impacts 2026 at Tequila House, 6 to 8 PM — the Young Professionals Network and Hardin Local partnership, with tickets available at the door for $25 and a panel discussion livestreamed at 6:45.

Thursday: story hour, ladies' night, and karaoke

Thursday opens gently with Story Hour for all ages at Birdwhistell Books at 10:15 AM — "super cool, fun thing you can do. Take your kiddos to that." Impellizzeri's hosts its Ladies' & Gents' Night with "$5 game-day pints" and the cheese bread Jon vouches for. Karaoke returns to Bourbon Barrel Tavern with DJ Jimmy "on the ones and twos," and Jon, who sang the week before, recommended it: "I actually sang last Thursday for karaoke. I sang Snake Farm — it's one of my favorite songs ever." Summer Singo Bash runs at HubHaus, and Don't Have a Clue Trivia starts back up at Cosmic Golf at 7 PM.

Friday: silent disco and live music

Friday's centerpiece is the Silent Disco at Social Food Hall, 8 to 10 PM, which Jon stressed is for everyone. "This is family-friendly. It's 8 to 10, so this is for anybody — kids, adults, everybody. It's all good music that is not going to offend anyone." Close Enough plays live at HubHaus at 8 PM, with karaoke also running at Cosmic Golf.

Saturday: community, wellness, and chili

Saturday is the busiest community day of the week. Loaves of Love runs 8:30 AM to 12 PM at the MOD Squad Teen Outreach Ministry in Radcliff. Detox & Dine at the Clean Good Eats Cooking Studio starts at 9 AM — "if you want to learn how to cook a good detox and a good way to eat, very good workshop there." The Goal Setting Workshop & Vision Board Class (Day 1) runs 3 to 5 PM at Life Force Wellness Center.

And then there's the one that caught everyone's attention: the Sonora Fire Department Chili Supper & Auction at Thurman Landing at 5 PM. "That sounds delicious," Jon said. "I'm going to be out of town this weekend, but I would be there if I was anywhere this weekend, because I love a good chili." That kicked off a friendly table debate over beans, texture, and whether noodles belong in chili — Jon noting he won People's Choice at the Flywheel chili cook-off last year by pureeing his beans for "the bean flavor but not the texture."

Sunday: brunch, football, and vision boards

Sunday closes the week with NFL Sundays at Impellizzeri's — "$5 pitchers, any of their beers on tap" — Southern Sunday Brunch at J.R. Neighbors, and Day 2 of the Vision Board Class at Life Force Wellness Center, 1 to 4 PM. "Trying to set up that future for yourself," Jon said. "Very important to kind of have those goals and a sight on the future."

Coming up: art, weddings, and back-to-back music weekends

Before wrapping, Jon highlighted a few deadlines and upcoming dates. The Hardin County Public Library's "Inspired by a Book" art show takes submissions through January 22 at 5:30 PM, with the show opening January 29. The Something Blue Kentucky wedding show lands at The Haycraft this weekend (tickets on Eventbrite, with some free elements).

On the music front, Jon flagged "back-to-back music weekends." Ryan Brashear — a touring country artist and Central Hardin grad — comes home to play Upton on Saturday, January 17 at 6 PM at the Upton Community Center, with $10 admission and all proceeds going to the WJCR Food Ministry; special guest Star Wright joins him. Then JD Shelburne headlines Cosmic Golf the following Saturday, January 24 at 8 PM. "If you haven't seen this local fella, he's played at BBT many times," Jon said. "He puts on a great show."

A fuller week, a busier calendar — and a strong run of community events to settle into the heart of winter.
