Video leads to teens charged with assault

Louisville KY, (November 20, 2018) –Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 4 investigation of a video leads to several charged with assault charges.
On November 19, 2018, KSP Post 4 was notified by the Hardin County School System that they had been notified of a video had been posted on social media showing several current and formal Central Hardin High School students, involved in a physical altercation.
The assault occurred at the corner of Poplar Level Road and Dahl Road in Jefferson County. The altercation lead to the 16-year-old victim being taken to Norton’s Children’s Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Through the investigation, KSP Post 4 detectives were able to identify two adults and three juveniles that were involved in the assault. One 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds were cited and released to the custody their parents. The two adults, Derek Taylor (19) of Elizabethtown and Wesley Lawler (18) of Glendale, were charged with Assault 2nd Degree.
Both Taylor and Lawler were lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing by Detective Ken Borders.
