On May 27th around 340 in the morning, James Martin, age 34 was stopped while driving on Patriot Parkway by EPD Officer Foushee. Martin had failed to dim his high beams, and claimed that the low beams were not working. Martin had several active warrants. When Officer Foushee attempted to arrest Martin for the warrants, Martin put his vehicle in gear, and drove approximately 25 feet while dragging the officer, who was stuck in the car window. The car drove into a ditch, and the officer was then able to get away from the vehicle. Very fortunately, Officer Foushee was not seriously injured. After Martin lost the pursuing officer, he pushed a female passenger out of the moving vehicle before continuing to flee. She was not injured. Officers were unable to locate Martin after he abandoned the vehicle, but found drugs, drug paraphernalia, and a 9mm handgun inside the car. A warrant was issued for Martin for two counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st degree, Fleeing 1st (vehicle), Trafficking methamphetamine gun enhanced,  Trafficking marijuana gun enhanced,  Possession of handgun by felon, and Tampering with physical evidence.
