Cory Lowler Arrested Elizabethtown For Domestic Violence & Attempted Arson

Press release from Elizabethtown Police Department:

“Early this morning shortly before 4 am,  EPD responded to the 500 block of Madison Street in reference to a violent domestic disturbance. The suspect, identified as Cory Lawler, age 40, of Hodgenville, had assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

The investigation revealed that he had struck and scratched the victim, leaving visible scratches on her arms and bruising to her left eye. Lawler continued on a rampage that damaged the interior of her residence, cutting window screens, breaking the refrigerator handle, and throwing food all over the kitchen. Lawler then went outside and broke the driver side mirror of the victim’s car. Lawler placed a broken mop head into the gas tank of her vehicle and told her that he was going to set her vehicle on fire.

Lawler fled from responding police officers, and was captured in the 500 block of Vista Drive after a foot pursuit. Lawler was manifestly under the influence of alcohol, with an odor of alcoholic beverages on his person, slurred speech, and belligerent behavior.

Lawler was charged with attempted Arson 3rd degree, assault 4th-degree domestic violence, criminal mischief 2nd degree, fleeing and evading 1st degree, resisting arrest, and alcohol intoxication in a public place. He was also served with two active warrants.”
