#HCSStrongerTogetherWhat a great start to the 18-19 school year!

Our first seven days have been tremendous and I couldn’t be more excited about the direction our school is going.

At our opening day staff meeting and in each of our grade level class meetings, I projected an image of an old shoe on the screen. The shoe symbolizes two important points I want everyone associated with JHHS to remember this school year.

First, the old saying is “you don’t truly know someone until you walk a mile in their shoes.” I’ve challenged everyone to get to know each other. Develop positive relationships and continue our tradition of “family.”

Secondly, I’m asking everyone to “take the extra step” for someone else. Do something kind and treat others with respect at all times.

I’ve been blown away by the response to the challenge from staff, JHHS families, and especially our students. This week alone:

Students organized to raise money for a JHHS student’s family who is in need.

Several students invited students sitting alone at lunch to join them at their table.

Two of our athletes took the time to play basketball with a few of our special needs students during physical education class without being prompted simply because they wanted to ensure “everyone” felt involved in the class.

Students volunteered to serve at a community fundraiser.

Students remained after breakfast and lunch to help our custodial staff pick up any remaining trash from tables.

I could go on and on with examples from students, staff, and JHHS families FROM OUR FIRST SEVEN DAYS ALONE!

I look forward to what the the 18-19 school year holds for our Bulldog Family!

There is a rumor that we need to put to rest ... G C Burkhead Elementary School is NOT on lock-down. Per Kentucky law, schools have to do a certain number of fire drills at different times of the school year. The school was just going through a scheduled fire drill. Somehow, the rumor has gotten out that the school is on lock-down because of that fire drill. That is incorrect. Its just a fire drill. Thank you for your cooperation in not spreading a very false rumor. ... See MoreSee Less

We wanted to let you know about something that has come to our attention. There are individuals in our community going to door-to-door selling books and other educational materials. We have heard that they often are heard to say in their sales pitch that their product has been endorsed by one of our schools, a principal of one of our schools, a school staff member or by the Hardin County Schools distrct. Any statements to that regard are false. Principals, schools or HCS have not endorsed any materials, especially ones that are sold outside of our district's control. We can't speak to the quality of these materials, but we just wanted to let you know that any statement about an endorsement coming from our schools or school district is false. Thank you! ... This is awesome!

#2021 I've got a kid in there somewhere 😁 The used to do that way back in the stone age when I was a student (c/o 97, lol!)

Like this idea

I remember when c/o 99 did this. And now I see my son's class doing it 22 years later ♡♡

Jakori Tinsley

‘95 and ‘96 did it as well!

Melissa Fritz- McGuire

Love it!

So great
