Elizabethtown woman killed in accident

Media Report:

On 10-07-2018, shortly after 12:00pm, EPD was called to a serious injury collision in the eastbound lanes of US 62/Leitchfield Road near Kentucky Drive. A silver Ford Mustang, operated by Patrick Kiger, age 18, of Cecilia, was traveling eastbound on US 62, when a Blue Oldsmobile Cutless, operated by Darlene Hisel, age 63, of Elizabethtown, crossed into the path of the Mustang.

The Cutless was crossing from Kentucky Drive, and was attempting to cross all four lanes of US 62 to the gas station at 2611 Leitchfield Road.

The front of the Mustang struck the passenger side of the Cutless. The female front seat passenger of the Cutless, identified as Roge Smith, age 73, of Elizabethtown, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Hisel was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital with what are believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.  Kiger was not injured.

The Elizabethtown Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision.
