EPD released the following information this morning on an attempted murder in Elizabethtown:

“On 03-06-18 around 1040 in the evening, police and EMS were dispatched to a possible stabbing at the Kentucky Cardinal Inn at 642 East Dixie Avenue. An adult male victim was found with a life threatening laceration to his throat in a motel room, and he was flown to the University of Louisville trauma center. The victim is currently is still hospitalized but in stable condition. For reasons that are still unclear, the investigation revealed that the victim had gotten into a physical altercation with a Derrick Butterworth, age 21 of Elizabethtown. During the altercation, Butterworth slashed the victim’s throat with a knife and then fled the area. Butterworth was arrested last night and charged with attempted murder.
